Empire Furniture is more than just a showroom — it’s a living chapter in a story that began with nothing but a dream, a strong will, and a deep connection to our community. Our founder, Murad Hajmohammad, came to the U.S. from Palestine with no resources and no safety net. What he had instead was heart, vision, and a sense of duty to serve his people.
In the early days, the first store—Home Center—was run with a public storage unit as a makeshift warehouse. Murad insisted on offering honest, affordable prices to the Arab community in Michigan, even when it meant refusing to sell in bulk to other retailers. His focus was never just business—it was about helping families build their homes with dignity.
It wasn’t easy. Home Center struggled, and more than once it nearly fell. But through perseverance, sleepless nights, and unwavering work, it stood tall. Now, nearly 13 years later, Home Center Group proudly operates 10 locations across Michigan, all dedicated to serving the community that stood by us through it all. Empire Furniture is one of those locations—built on the same foundation of honesty, quality, and care.
Today, the group has its own warehouse to supply all 10 stores, employs over 100 members from our Arab community, and has helped open and support nearly 100 households. Our furniture can be found in homes across Michigan and neighboring states, becoming part of family gatherings, celebrations, and everyday life.
